Same result. Updating the DB did not help untill I unsinstalled devel module and ran update.php At first I thought it might be an issue with the database size and tried to figure out how to locate and override php.ini After deleting and adding other modules without running into space problems, I believe this is related to devel module direclty. Will have to investigate.
There are several reports of sites crashing upon activating the Devel module.. apparently due to incompatibility with old versions of Zend Optimizer.
